Having started by learning classical piano as a youngster, I soon moved on to synthesisers and electronic keyboards.

In 2017 I started learning the guitar, which is now my 2nd instrument. Of course one isn’t enough to own, so I have a 6-strong electro-acoustic, a 12 string acoustic, a mini 6 string, an electric guitar, a bass guitar and yes, I admit it, I even have a ukulele. There’s a story to that which will make a good separate post.

An assortment of instruments fill my house, including two clarinets, a flute, a tenor horn and far too many recorders. Non are played often enough though!

My strangest instrument is the Duduk.

2025: My latest purchase is an Alto Saxophone. I succumbed to the temptation of buying one of the most iconic woodwind instruments (even though it’s made of brass). It’s just a cheap one to learn on
